About Us

A Little Bit About Me....

I am a professional certified ASL interpreter providing services in Grayson County. I have several Deaf family members, so I have been immersed and involved with Deaf culture for over 40 years.  I received my first certification in 1999 and the second in 2010, so 25+ years as a professional interpreter.

In 1998 I started interpreting professionally as an Educational Interpreter. In that role, I was an active part of ARD committees, conducting Deaf Awareness workshops for educators, mentoring younger interpreters, teaching signs to children who were non-verbal, and even developing specialized signs for Chuck Norris's Kickstart program for a classroom of Deaf Ed students. My main responsibility was interpreting and translating classroom instruction in ASL-English mostly in middle and high school subjects, assemblies, and after school activities.

For the past 9 years, I have been a video relay interpreter.  Due to confidentiality concerns, I can only say, I have probably interpreted for every topic you can think of in that role.

Additionally, I have interpreted and advocated for community, higher education, religious, political, medical, and employment situations separate from the jobs as a community service.  We also are Ordained Ministers/Officiants.

My husband and I are currently involved in bringing back a Deaf community outreach in the area again.  At this time, it's getting to know who is still in the Texoma area; more as a social club. However, the long term goal is to be a full non-profit complete with a building, food bank, event space and memorial garden.

Mission Statement

To empower the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community and the non-signer and general population with ASL-English in order to bridge partnerships, promote advocacy, community awareness, and education with effective communication access.
